The Madiun City Government in East Java is facilitating culinary micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to level up by holding a Cipta Kreasi Jajan Khas (Traditional Snack Creation) competition in 2026. Acting Mayor F Bagus Panuntun stated on Wednesday that the competition, held to commemorate the 108th anniversary of Madiun City, was participated in by 54 teams consisting of TP PKK Kelurahan members and MSME actors. “Why did I insist on holding this agenda? Firstly, to encourage MSMEs to upgrade their skills. If they are not pushed, their sales will remain mediocre. Secondly, Madiun City’s tourism must level up, including all its MSMEs. After we facilitated this, it turns out the community is capable,” Bagus said. According to him, the people of Madiun City, especially MSMEs and PKK Kelurahan, are actually rich in extraordinary ideas and innovation. This was evident in the Cipta Kreasi Jajan Khas event, which produced delicious, unique, and economically valuable snack products. “This is an extraordinary asset. The next step is ensuring these assets have a sales standard in tourist spots. The winners’ products will be patented. They will also receive special training by collaborating with owners who are considered successful. This is important to meet market taste standards,” he said. In the competition, the King Peanut Madiun snack created by MSMEs from Banjarejo emerged as the first-place winner. The new form of snack made from pecel sauce and madumongso achieved a score of 285.2. “The snack is named King Peanut Madiun. We have two variants, namely pecelnut and mongsonut,” said Banjarejo MSME team leader Friska Dwi. The product is made from cassava flour combined with pecel sauce for the pecelnut variant and madumongso for the mongsonut variant. The product met the competition criteria, including originality, creativity, product description, use of local ingredients, presentation, and taste. King Peanut Madiun has even been attractively packaged like a typical souvenir from Madiun City, which is famous for its pecel sauce and madumongso. Second place went to Dodol Asam Jawa Bango Asri from TP PKK Pilangbango with a total score of 282.9, and third place was Suluh Kembang Kates, a product from UMKM Lentera 03 Oro-Oro Ombo, with a score of 282.3.
