Madiun City Facilitates MSMEs to Level Up Through Digital Training

The Madiun City Government in East Java is facilitating local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to level up by providing training on the use of digital technology.

Acting Mayor of Madiun F. Bagus Panuntun said digitalisation is an important part of efforts to improve the quality of MSME operators. The digital training provided includes recording transactions through Point of Sale (POS) applications and marketing products through digital platforms to reach a wider consumer base.

“Now MSMEs that use locations or premises from the City Government will be required to use POS,” he said when opening the MSME capacity-building training in the digital era held at the Dekranasda Building in Madiun City on Thursday.

To support digital transaction recording, the Madiun City Manpower, Cooperatives and Small Enterprises Office (Disnaker KUKM) distributed thermal printers, ring lights, and clip-on microphones to 22 MSME operators under the office’s guidance.

“The assistance is expected to support transaction recording, product promotion, and digital content creation for MSME operators in the current digital era,” he said.

He emphasised that using POS applications makes transactions clearly recorded and produces receipts as proof of purchase, thereby providing certainty for consumers.

The transaction data collected can also help the Madiun City Government map money circulation in the MSME sector more accurately. The data can later be used as material for calculating regional economic growth together with Statistics Indonesia (BPS).

Not only for government purposes, tidy transaction recording also provides benefits for MSME operators. The business records can serve as a picture of business development and open opportunities to obtain recommendations for additional capital when needed.

In addition to improving transactions, the Madiun City Government is also encouraging MSME operators to strengthen marketing through social media.

“After this training, the hope is that first, the thermal printer and POS application must be used. Second, we also support MSMEs to be creative in introducing their products on social media. That is why we added equipment for live streaming and so on,” he said.

With the training, he is confident that MSMEs under the relevant office’s guidance can exist and adapt to developments in the digital era.
