It is no exaggeration to say that Indonesian-made products are
in great demand in foreign countries. The biggest sellers are
things like garments and sports equipment. The well-known sport
shoes -- Nike, Reebok and LA Gear -- are all made in Indonesia.
Although they are not high-tech, these shoes have promoted
Indonesia abroad.

I once visited an overseas mall and while idly looking around
I was greeted kindly by a shop assistant who asked me if I was
from Indonesia. I asked her how she knew, and she replied that it
was easy because the shoes I was looking at were made in
Indonesia.

I took the shoes to the cashier and paid them. I bought a
product made in Indonesia. If foreigners like Indonesian products
why shouldn't I? The price is reasonable for people with small
salaries. I still wonder, however, why the price of a Indonesian-
made product is cheaper outside Indonesia.
