Macron directs government to tackle fuel crisis

Moscow (ANTARA) - French President Emmanuel Macron has urged his government to undertake every possible effort to overcome the fuel crisis in the country, stated French Government Spokesperson Maud Bregeon on Wednesday.

French Finance Minister Roland Lescure stated on 11 September that fuel prices, which surged following the conflict involving Iran in February 2026, are expected to remain high for a long period.

Diesel prices in the country have reached 2.30 euros (approximately Rp46,809) per litre, while petrol has reached 2.10 euros (approximately Rp42,738) per litre.

These average prices have surged by almost 30 per cent compared to the period before the crisis.

“The President of the French Republic has directed his government to strive fully to ensure supply on one hand, and to control prices on the other,” Bregeon said during a press conference.
