Indonesia Comic Con (ICC) 2026 has officially announced the presence of Japanese-American actor Mackenyu Arata as the main guest for the tenth edition of the pop culture event. Mackenyu is scheduled to meet fans in Jakarta on 4 October.

The announcement was made by the organiser, Panorama Media, via the official @indonesiacomiccon social media account on Sunday (13/9). The presence of the 2/29-year-old actor marks Mackenyu’s first time attending a Comic Con event in Indonesia, news that has been long-awaited by the local community of fans of Japanese comic adaptations.

Mackenyu is globally recognised for his role as Roronoa Zoro in the live-action series “One Piece”. Before rising to fame through that series, the son of the late legendary action actor Sonny Chiba began his Hollywood career in 2018 through the film “Pacific Rim Uprising” as cadet Ryoichi.

His acting track record also includes the role of Seiya in the live-action “Knights of the Zodiac” and a highly acclaimed performance as the main antagonist, Yukishiro Enishi, in the 2021 film “Rurouni Kenshin: The Final”. The actor, who will turn 30 on 16 November, is confirmed to be the primary attraction for the ICC decade celebration.

The tenth anniversary celebration of Indonesia Comic Con is scheduled to take place over two days, 3-4 October 2026, at the Hall Expo and Arena, Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran, Jakarta. The event will feature various elements of pop culture, ranging from comics, toys, films, and games to music and cosplay competitions.

Previously, the organisers held an audience with the Ministry of Creative Economy on Monday (7/9). During the meeting, the Director of Panorama Media, Andita Tirtawisata, and ICC Project Manager, Lulu Anwar, presented plans for collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) to promote creator exchanges between Indonesia and Hong Kong.

In addition to hosting international stars, Indonesia Comic Con continues to encourage the local creative economy ecosystem through the development of independent intellectual property (IP) named Kapten Sultan. The organisers expressed openness to collaborations with various parties to advance the national creative industry.
