Machete-Wielding Snatchers Strike During Car-Free Day in Kuningan, Jakarta; One Arrested

A mugging was reported during the car-free day (HBKB/CFD) on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, on Sunday (19/7/2026). The mugging was carried out by perpetrators armed with a sharp weapon. Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-department, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu, stated that there were two perpetrators. One of the perpetrators was known to be carrying a sharp weapon in the form of a sickle. “There were two perpetrators, one of them was carrying a sharp weapon, a sickle, and the evidence seized includes one sickle and three mobile phones,” he said when confirmed on Sunday. According to him, the incident began when a resident shouted ‘mugger’ after the CFD event around the Rasuna Said area. At that time, the two perpetrators immediately fled on a motorcycle. “The chronology is that a resident shouted ‘mugger’, and the perpetrators fled on a motorcycle,” he said.
