MacBook Pro debuts with M5 Pro and M5 Max, battery life up to 24 hours
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Apple has released its flagship MacBook Pro with the new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, claimed to set a new standard for pro laptops.
“MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro and M5 Max set a new standard for professional laptops, now up to 4x faster than the previous generation,” said Apple Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus in a company press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips in the latest MacBook Pro are designed to support robust artificial intelligence (AI) performance.
The M5 Pro and M5 Max are equipped with a new CPU of up to 18 cores with 6 performance cores and 12 efficiency cores. This core combination yields up to 30 percent faster performance than the previous generation.
For the GPU, in addition to using the same technology as the M5 chip, the GPU architecture of the M5 Pro and M5 Max features Neural Accelerator on every core, enabling processing of LLM prompts up to 4x faster than M4 Pro and M4 Max.
The graphics performance of the chip is said to be up to 50 percent higher than the previous generation.
In the new MacBook Pro, Apple uses a battery that can last up to 24 hours of use on a single charge, 16 hours longer than the MacBook Pro with the M1 chip.
The device also supports fast charging capability. The company claims the battery can reach 50 per cent charge within 30 minutes using a USB-C 96W power adapter.
The MacBook Pro versions with M5 Pro and M5 Max are available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes. Both come in Cosmic Black and Silver.
Both devices are promised to be released in Indonesia in the near future. Price information has not been disclosed.
