MacBook Neo price starts at Rp10 million on release
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Apple has finally released its long-awaited line of budget laptops. The MacBook Neo is priced from Rp10 million, with two configurations: US$599 (Rp10.1 million) for 8 GB RAM/256 GB storage and US$699 (Rp11.7 million) for 512 GB. Rumours of a cheaper MacBook had circulated for more than a decade; this year Apple has officially unveiled the model. Alongside the Pro and Air lines, the Neo completes Apple’s three-laptop lineup.
In terms of specifications, the Neo features a 13-inch LCD IPS Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408 x 1506, 60 Hz refresh rate, and a 3:2 aspect ratio. Peak brightness reaches 500 nits. The device includes a FaceTime HD 1080p camera. Apple provides a Magic Keyboard without backlighting and Touch ID is reportedly available only on the 512 GB model. The Neo also includes a multi‑touch trackpad, but not the Force Touch haptic feedback.
Weighing 1.23 kg, the Neo has speakers along the sides supporting spatial audio and Dolby Atmos, plus a pair of directional beamforming microphones. For performance, Apple uses the A18 Pro chipset in the Neo lineup; this chip is used in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max released in 2024. Apple promises 50% faster browsing and three times faster AI workloads on this device compared with a Windows laptop using an Intel Core Ultra 5.
The Neo comes with two USB‑C ports: one supports USB 3 speeds and DisplayPort, and the second is USB 2.0; there is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The battery is a 36.5 Wh lithium‑ion cell, claimed to offer around 16 hours of video streaming or 11 hours of web browsing. Colour options include Silver, Blush (pink), Citrus (yellow) and Indigo (blue).
