JAKARTA - Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB) has introduced a new micro electric vehicle named the Solarky Sun V, scheduled to launch in Indonesia in mid-2026. The vehicle has attracted attention as the first locally assembled battery-powered electric car integrated with solar panels. Assembly of the Solarky Sun V takes place at MAB’s plant in Demak, Central Java.

Design-wise, the Solarky Sun V features a unique and compact character. It adopts the boxy or angular design trend currently popular in the micro electric vehicle segment. Its appearance evokes the look of a compact Japanese kei car-style electric SUV.

Dimensions are 3,150 mm in length, 1,491 mm in width, and 1,590 mm in height without the solar panels. When the panels are deployed, the height increases to 1,700 mm. The front features a simple electric vehicle design with a glossy black closed grille. The compact SUV aesthetic is further enhanced by thick black fenders and a ground clearance of 190 mm. The roof is designed in a two-tone black and white combination for a fresh look.

A key attraction of the Sun V is the integrated solar panels on the roof. The panels can be electrically deployed via the central display menu to assist with battery charging. The solar panels are claimed to provide an additional 55 kilometres of range per day under optimal conditions.
