M 5.9 Earthquake Shakes Thousand Islands

A magnitude (M) 5.9 earthquake occurred in the Thousand Islands. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 376 km.

Via its X account, BMKG reported that the earthquake took place on Saturday (12/09/2026) at 04:23 WIB. The epicentre was located 6 km east of the Thousand Islands, Jakarta.

The earthquake’s coordinates were 5.81 South Latitude and 106.56 East Longitude. Earthquake information may change as data becomes more complete.
