A magnitude (M) 5.2 earthquake occurred in the Tahuna region, Sangihe Islands, North Sulawesi. The earthquake was centred at sea.

“Magnitude: 5.2,” stated the official report from BMKG, as cited on Friday (18/09/2026).

The earthquake occurred this morning at 06:48 WIB. The tremor was detected at a location of 4.74 degrees North latitude and 125.30 degrees East longitude.

“Depth (of the earthquake) is 10 km,” BMKG reported.

The cause and impact of the earthquake remain unknown. It is also not yet clear whether there have been any casualties resulting from this event.

“There is no potential for a tsunami,” BMKG stated.
