Lyrics and Meaning of 'Hari Baru', the Jingle for the 2026 Friendly School Orientation Programme

Ahead of the 2026/2027 academic year, new students across Indonesia will participate in the Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS), or School Environment Orientation Period. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is once again implementing the ‘MPLS Ramah’ (Friendly MPLS) concept, an orientation period that prioritises a learning environment which is safe, comfortable, inclusive, and free from bullying and all forms of violence. To support this spirit, the ministry is reusing the jingle titled ‘Hari Baru’ (New Day). The song was composed by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, and has been used since the previous year’s Friendly MPLS. ‘Hari Baru’ has a cheerful rhythm and simple lyrics, making it easy for students to remember. Through this song, new students are invited to begin their journey in the school environment with enthusiasm, mutual respect, and acceptance, as well as motivation to achieve accomplishments and their aspirations. During the MPLS, this song is often sung together at the opening of activities. In several schools, students are also asked to memorise the lyrics as part of introducing a positive school culture. Besides being the Friendly MPLS jingle, the song also carries a message about the importance of positive character, cooperation, and the spirit to achieve one’s dreams. These values are in line with the objectives of the Friendly MPLS, which is to help new students adapt to the school environment in a fun, safe, and meaningful way.
