Luxury of official residence

Luxury of official residence

From Kompas

As far as I am concerned, the Central Java governor's plan to
build a Rp 7 billion official residence is not proportional,
whatever the reasons are and regardless of where the funds come
from.

It is far too expensive. Imagine the reaction of people who
still live below the poverty line on learning of such a
magnificent project.

I believe the people will remain respectful of their governor
even if he lives in mansion worth much less than Rp 7 billion.
Should the governor have a large fund, why not use it for
building infrastructure to benefit the people. It should be
remembered that a governor is a "public servant" and not a
"monarch".

Concerning the official cars to be distributed to the 23
regents in South Sulawesi (each car reportedly costs Rp 165
million), I find this insensitive. Are they going to use them to
cruise the land, cross a river or wade through a muddy road?

I don't understand how the Pajero car can, according to a
regent, be good for your health.

Another mind boggling thing is the Rp 1.2 billion swimming
pool in the official residence of the Bekasi (West Java) regent.
I wonder what will happen to that swimming pool if he ceases to
be the regent?
