Luxurious cars in the city
Luxurious cars in the city
From Media Indonesia
As a newcomer to Jakarta, I am proud of the city's successful
development and the people's wealth. From the bus I witness so
many luxurious cars queuing up in the street, a scene I could
only watch on TV when I was in my hometown.
What strikes me is that the bus drivers should steer carefully
to avoid collision with the luxurious cars.
One day, the city bus I took in hit a BMW on Jl. Sudirman.
Then, a gentleman came out of the car and pounded on the bus door
asking the driver to get down.
After quarreling for about 10 minutes, the bus driver then
asked the passengers to move to other bus, saying: "I have to
follow that Bapak (man) to the police office; also, this bus is
slightly damaged".
As I left the bus, I glanced at the BMW car and I didn't see
any serious damage.
My conclusion was that if the BMW owner had his car repaired,
it might cost him only about Rp 200,000, a small amount for the
man who had a Rp 900 million-worth car. Well, this is Jakarta.
