Lured by 'Pound Cake', Karawang girl beaten by friends

A 15-year-old girl in Karawang, West Java, was subjected to violence in a case allegedly triggered by an offer to buy a cake. The incident occurred on Monday, 2 March 2026 and circulated on social media. The assault was disclosed after the victim’s elder brother, Yopi Setiawan (35), reported it to the police on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. At the time, Yopi was in Jakarta for work. He received a call from a witness identified as AMZ (19) who told him that his sister SAJ had been assaulted by her friends.

According to the police report by the victim’s family, the assault happened in a field area near a shop, specifically at Jalan Buer Turi, Dusun Cikeleng, Desa Jayanegara, Kecamatan Tempuran, Karawang. Three teenage girls were named as suspects. They are WS (female), AK (female), and A (female). They are accused of physically assaulting SAJ, a resident of Dusun V, Desa Sumurgede, Kecamatan Cilamaya Kulon.

“The victim recounted the incident to her brother. Initially, the victim was picked up by the perpetrators under the pretext of being taken to buy a pound cake. But instead of being taken to a bakery, she was taken to a shop near a field in Dusun Cikeleng,” said Cep Wildan, Head of Public Relations for the Karawang Police, in Karawang on Wednesday.

At the scene, the victim was assaulted by the three perpetrators. Driven by anger, the perpetrators allegedly used physical violence including slapping, punching, pulling hair, and kicking the victim’s body.

As a result, the victim experienced severe pain and bruising all over her body. Regarding the incident, investigators from Satres PPA and PPO at Karawang Police are currently conducting investigations, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence.

From the available reports, the suspects face charges under the Child Protection Act, specifically Law Number 35 of 2014 amending Law Number 23 of 2002 on Child Protection.
