JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Several victims have revealed why they chose Hanania Travel for their umrah trips before being scammed. One victim, Ana (35), said she chose Hanania Travel after meeting pilgrims who used the agency’s services in the Holy Land in 2022. ‘We spoke at length, and they mentioned the service was highly recommended. That’s why I noted Hanania as a viable option for future trips,’ she said at a press conference in Tebet, South Jakarta, on Monday, June 1, 2026. ‘I also brought my child, and during the Eid holiday, we could travel without disrupting school activities,’ she added. Another victim, Uli (33), said she confidently chose Hanania after recommendations from friends. Many who had used Hanania for umrah and hajj trips reported satisfaction with the service. This convinced Uli to use the agency for her first umrah trip. ‘Hanania has a Grade B accreditation, making it credible as an umrah travel agency. Plus, it has a history of sending many pilgrims, even earning a MURI for the largest group reunion,’ said Anny. Additionally, Hanania was often recommended as an umrah agency whose pilgrims were commonly seen in Mecca and Medina. Previously, PT Khazanah Tamma Internasional (Hanania Group) CEO Ahmad Syah Farhan was named a suspect for allegedly embezzling umrah travel funds. So far, around 2,500 pilgrims from various departure groups have fallen victim to the fund embezzlement. The estimated loss from the case is Rp 100 billion.
