Lunar New Year and Start of Ramadan Close Together, Cak Imin: A Blessing for the Nation
Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Human Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, known as Cak Imin, expressed his delight that the Lunar New Year falls close to the start of Ramadan. He considers this a blessing for the Indonesian nation.
“Of course, this is a source of happiness. These are all days full of blessings for our nation,” Cak Imin told reporters after attending a Lunar New Year commemoration at Avalokitesvara Temple on Jalan Mangga Besar, West Jakarta, on Sunday (2/15/2026).
“The togetherness of all religions in celebrating and enjoying their respective holy days,” he added.
Cak Imin said this needs to be properly safeguarded. As is known, Lunar New Year falls on Tuesday (2/17), while the start of Ramadan fasting begins shortly after.
“Of course, this must be fully supported by security forces, all members of society, and the government must certainly facilitate it,” he said.
To that end, Cak Imin affirmed that the government guarantees security for every celebration. He said the government must step in to provide facilities for people who are celebrating and observing these occasions.
“Yes, as in previous years, we must provide guarantees of security, smooth proceedings, togetherness, and the success of all Lunar New Year events across the entire country,” he said.
