Luna Maya Says the Character of Suzzanna is More Than Just a Horror Character

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Luna Maya is once again playing the character of Suzzanna in the latest film, ‘Suzzanna: Santet Dosa di Atas Dosa’, directed by Kinoi Lubis. In this film, Luna sees Suzzanna not just as a horror character, but as a woman with strong principles and the courage to fight against injustice.

According to Luna, there is a value that makes her so fond of the character. She calls Suzzanna a representation of the spirit of a woman who knows what is right and wrong, and who dares to speak out even if it means facing great risks.

“She just knows that this is not right. Even though sometimes she breaks through something that she shouldn’t. But as a woman, she has principles,” said Luna during a media junket in Central Jakarta, Wednesday (25/2/2026).

For Luna, the character of Suzzanna also deserves to be called a superhero. Although not a great hero who saves the world, Suzzanna is a hero who fights for herself and her family.

“She is indeed a superhero. Someone who fights crime. Maybe on a small scale, but she is a hero. Maybe not for everyone around her, but for herself and her family,” she said.

Luna also highlighted the transformation of the character of Suzzanna in this film, who was initially underestimated but was able to prove her strength. According to Luna, the character of Suzzanna also carries a message about female empowerment.

“Women must be empowered. Women must have a voice. When they want to be silenced, they still speak out. Even though the way they have to take leads them to a sinful place,” said Luna.
