Lumintang City Park Becomes Target of Vandalism - Play Facilities Damaged
The Lumintang City Park in Denpasar has become the target of vandalism. In addition, several play facilities in the public space managed by the Denpasar City Government (Pemkot) have also been damaged.
Observations by detikBali revealed Pilox paint graffiti near the Tukad Tagtag area or next to the Youth Park in Lumintang City Park. The irregular scribbles have made the public facilities look shabby.
The Head of the Layout and Parks Division of the Denpasar City Environment and Cleanliness Service (DLHK), Ida Ayu Widhiyanasari, confirmed the vandalism. Besides the graffiti and damage to facilities, she stated that Lumintang City Park has also been targeted for theft.
“Regarding this vandalism, we from DLHK will follow up immediately as the managers of the city park,” said Dayu Widya, her familiar nickname, when confirmed by detikBali on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
“A few days ago, the play area was also damaged, and the tyres used as safety barriers were stolen,” she added.
Dayu Widya promised to repair the damaged facilities so that Lumintang City Park would be cleaner. The Denpasar City DLHK, she continued, will soon calculate the maintenance budget due to the vandalism.
“To ensure the available facilities continue to function properly, we allocate Rp 50 million every quarter,” she said.
Dayu Widya regretted the lack of care from some members of the public towards public facilities. She asked the community to participate in maintaining and supervising the city park facilities. According to her, vandalism targeting public facilities can be subject to criminal sanctions.
“Of course, a deterrent effect is needed through stages of guidance, written warnings, and even criminal sanctions,” she concluded.
