The step is taken to close loopholes for potential deviations in the distribution chain. Lumajang, East Java (ANTARA) - The Lumajang Regency Government, East Java, is shortening the distribution route for subsidised 3kg LPG by reorganising the LPG distribution to prevent hoarding at the retailer level, ensuring that its delivery is direct and on target. “This policy is outlined in Circular Letter No. 500.10/1/427.14/2026 as a step to ensure that energy distribution runs more orderly and controlled,” said Lumajang Regent Indah Amperawati in her statement on Thursday. According to her, this strengthening of distribution aims to ensure that energy subsidies are truly received by the public without obstacles, so LPG distribution must directly reach the community and not go through too long a chain. In this policy, bases are required to distribute at least 90% of 3kg LPG directly to the public, while a maximum of 10% can be distributed through retailers. “This step is taken to close loopholes for potential deviations in the distribution chain. With a shorter distribution, we want to ensure that LPG is always available and easily accessible to the public,” she said. So far, she continued, a long distribution chain is considered to potentially cause various problems, such as artificial shortages, hoarding, and price increases at the retailer level. “With this reorganisation, the government hopes that subsidised LPG can quickly reach the public as end-users,” said the regent. She stated that this policy also strengthens the role of bases as the main distribution points that are easier to monitor. From the price perspective, direct distribution is considered capable of suppressing potential price increases beyond the provisions. “This is part of efforts to protect the public so that LPG remains available and affordable, thus the local government also urges the public to buy 3kg LPG directly at official bases to get prices according to the provisions,” she said. The public can access information on base locations through the official page https://subsiditepatlpg.mypertamina.id/infolpg3kg, and oversight of the policy implementation will involve village governments, sub-districts, and public participation. “Synergy among all parties is very important so that LPG distribution runs fairly and transparently, thus through this step, the Lumajang Regency Government affirms its commitment to providing more effective, targeted, and equitable energy distribution for the public,” she said.
