Lululemon Bag Theft Syndicate at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Has Been Operating Since 2024, Losses Exceed Rp 1 Billion

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com - The theft of Lululemon brand bags in the cargo area of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is believed to have been ongoing since 2024.

The head of criminal investigation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Resort, Commissioner Yandri Mono, stated that the actions have caused export company PT Pungkook Indonesia One to suffer losses exceeding Rp 1 billion.

“The theft case has occurred repeatedly, resulting in losses to the export company of more than Rp 1 billion,” he said in a written statement on Thursday (14/5/2026).

To the police, they admitted to having carried out the actions more than once since 2024.

“The perpetrators confessed to having committed the theft three times in large quantities,” he said.

At that time, PT Pungkook Indonesia One shipped 4,749 Lululemon bags from Grobogan, Central Java, via Garuda Indonesia cargo.

The goods were sent on 10 April 2026 and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 13 April 2026.

However, on 20 April 2026, the company received a report from customers in Shanghai that 108 bags were missing.

“As a result of the incident, the victim suffered losses of Rp 213 million,” said Yandri.

From the examination results, it was found that 40 cartons out of a total of 512 cartons were deliberately separated during the X-ray inspection process.

Regarding the three suspects, the police identified R as the mastermind of the theft syndicate.
