Lukminto Sentenced to 14 Years, Hotman Paris: Judge's Verdict Completely Wrong, Corruption Charge Premature
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG – The legal representative for Iwan Setiawan Lukminto and Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto, Hotman Paris Hutapea, stated that he will file an appeal against the verdict issued by the panel of judges at the Semarang Corruption Court in the corruption case concerning credit provision to PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex). Setiawan and Kurniawan were each sentenced to 14 and 12 years in prison in the case. “We will definitely appeal,” said Hotman while accompanying his two clients during the trial session for the reading of the verdict at the Semarang Corruption Court, Central Java, on Wednesday (6/5/2026). According to Hotman, the verdict by the panel of judges at the Semarang Corruption Court is completely wrong. He said that during the trial, the public prosecutors (JPU) did not present any witnesses to state whether the suspension of debt payment obligations (PKPU) for PT Sritex was valid or not. “Yet the PKPU has already been validated, decided by six Supreme Court judges, the cassation panel, up to the PK. And its bankruptcy has also been ruled valid. So that (verdict) is completely wrong,” said Hotman. “To this day, the PKPU is valid and the assets have been handed over by this company—420 land plots. These have not yet been sold or auctioned. That’s why we keep saying, this corruption charge is premature, it’s not yet time,” added Hotman.
