Competence and integrity are key because PT DSI will manage the sale of resources on a very large scale, Sarmuji told reporters on Friday, 22 June 2026.

He hopes that under Luke’s leadership there will be no more embezzlement. A member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) said appointing Luke Thomas would minimise patronage channels.

“The aim is to prevent further abuses. The President may intend to break the chain of collusion involving patronage,” Sarmuji said.

“With Luke Thomas as the CEO, the chances of patronage channels will be minimised,” he added.

Previously, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara), Rosan Roeslani, revealed that PT DSI would be led by Luke Thomas Mahony. He said he would hold meetings to finalise the structure of PT DSI.

“For now, Luke Thomas. There is Thomas,” Rosan told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday (21 May).

Rosan said they would hold a meeting first to solicit input from various parties, including associations and heads of chambers of commerce. They would also carry out socialisation.

“Later, we will, this is the first step. There was a meeting earlier. Later we want this first, to listen to input. This afternoon also from all associations, the Kadin, Apindo, the palm oil association APBI, coal, all of them we will also do socialisation. So we will be at 4 o’clock,” he said.

Rosan did not explain in detail the reasons for appointing Luke Thomas Mahony as the chief executive of PT DSI. He will disclose the full team that will fill PT DSI.

“Yes, we are in the process of strengthening the team. Later we will present the full team. You can see the track record; his abilities are clear. It is like we are building Danantara first,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto issued Government Regulation (PP) on the Governance of Export of Natural Resource Commodities (SDA). Through this new regulation, exports of a number of strategic commodities must be conducted through government-designated state-owned enterprises (BUMN).
