Luke Thomas: Australian, Now CEO of Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia
Luke Thomas Mahony has been appointed as President Director of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI), the government-formed body prepared to manage the trade governance of Indonesia’s strategic commodities.
Luke is not a new figure in Indonesia’s mining circle or in Danantara. Previously, he served as SEVP Business Performance & Optimization at Danantara Indonesia from September 2025 to May 2026.
Luke Mahony is an Australian citizen who is now domiciled in Jakarta.
He has also held the position of Director and Chief Strategy and Technical Officer at PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. (INCO) from July 2024 to September 2025.
Luke has a long-standing track record in the global mining industry, including experience with BHP Billiton and Xstrata Coal.
Education: Luke Mahony has a strong academic background in mining and finance. He is a graduate of the University of New South Wales, Australia, with a Bachelor of Mining Engineering in 2002. He also holds three Master’s degrees: Master of Finance (2004), Master of Mining Engineering (2006), and Master of Geomechanics (2009).
