Lukashenko Welcomes Indonesia's Plan to Open Embassy in Minsk
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has welcomed Indonesia’s plan to open an embassy in Minsk, Belarus. He stated that the establishment of a diplomatic mission, along with direct flights and visa facilitation, would further strengthen people-to-people ties between the two nations and boost tourist visits. “Our delegation places great importance on mutual tourist visits. We are open to the opening of an Indonesian embassy in Belarus, and visa-free arrangements will also facilitate visits by Belarusian citizens to Indonesia, just as we have already done for Indonesian citizens visiting Belarus,” he said during a joint press statement with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (2/7/2026).
Lukashenko emphasised Belarus’s commitment to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Indonesia. He expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s support in strengthening bilateral relations founded on friendship and mutual trust. “This has been made possible thanks to the energy and strong support of Mr President for the Belarusian government in cooperating with Indonesia. We are very grateful that we value our friendship,” Lukashenko stated.
He underscored his country’s readiness to broaden collaboration in various strategic sectors, including food security, industry, trade, and healthcare. Regarding food security, Lukashenko said Belarus is prepared to support Indonesia’s self-sufficiency efforts through the supply of fertilisers, agricultural machinery, and technology. “To meet food needs, we are ready to supply more fertiliser, agricultural tools, and agricultural technology,” he said.
In the trade sector, Belarus is ready to increase cooperation through the export of various commodities, including dairy and meat products. Lukashenko also expressed his country’s willingness to expand industrial collaboration, such as developing joint ventures and localising factories in Indonesia, while offering to train Indonesian personnel in Belarus. “We are ready to teach our people not only here in Indonesia but also at our factories in Belarus. We are also ready to help our Indonesian friends in other fields that are needed in Indonesia,” he added. In the healthcare sector, Belarus is prepared to provide support and medical services for Indonesian citizens.
