Luis Figo Enthusiastic About HGI 2026 Football Festival

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Portuguese national football team legend Luis Figo is enthusiastic about taking part in Pesta Bola HGI 2026, an initiative programme by HGI supported by the National Indonesian Community Sports Association (KORMINAS), held at fX Sudirman, Jakarta.

“I could see the extraordinary warm reception and the passion the people here have for football. I am very happy and very honoured to experience it,” said Luis Figo at a press conference in Jakarta on Saturday.

Receiving a warm welcome from fans, Figo said he would like to holiday in Indonesia in future and explore the country further.

Figo’s presence at Pesta Bola HGI 2026 was warmly welcomed by HGI’s Ray, who noted that figures like the Portugal legend are greatly needed going forward.

“Luis Figo, as we know, is a legend of the green pitch. But how he refined his tactics and made decisions in the middle of a match is something that can truly inspire practitioners of mind sports,” said Ray.

Going forward, KORMINAS believes mind sports lie with the younger generation. The presence of the former Real Madrid player at the offline session of Pesta Bola HGI is also expected to inspire young people to compete in strategy and tactics across other sports.

“HGI will continue to support the government’s various plans to advance mind sports in Indonesia,” Ray continued.

HGI not only promotes the development of professional and competitive mind sports through various activations and tournaments, but also continues to improve service policies and user security protection.

A number of youth communities such as PRMI, UI, Putra Asgar, and the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Office (Dispora) also helped enliven Pesta Bola HGI 2026.

Cross-community and cross-sport collaborations like this have the potential to foster an inclusive and continuously growing mind sports ecosystem.
