Luhut targets digital social protection system launch for October or November 2026

The Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has set a target for the digitalisation of the Social Protection system (Perlinsos) to be launched nationally in October or November 2026. “Later in October or November, the President (Prabowo Subianto) will launch it nationally across 541 districts. We hope that by then, 80-90 percent of it will be in place,” Luhut said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday. Luhut, who also serves as the President’s Special Advisor on Digitalisation and Government Technology, added that the digital Perlinsos system is expected to be implemented gradually and comprehensively by the end of this year. “We will proceed step by step, so that by the end of the year everything is completed. This way, President Prabowo will obtain accurate data from this system,” he stated. He noted that pilot projects for the system, which is based on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), are already running in several regions across Indonesia. Currently, 42 districts and cities have been designated as pilot project areas, and residents there are targeted to complete their registration into the system by July. “We have also agreed that in these 42 pilot districts, the public should ideally complete their registration by the end of July. So we will know the numbers, which will be around 35 million registered in Perlinsos digital,” Luhut said. Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to conduct a direct inspection of the pilot project areas early next month. “Regarding the schedule, we have agreed to propose to the President to conduct the visit on the 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th of July. He will see whether to visit Surabaya, Banyuwangi, or Bali, whichever he chooses for the review,” Luhut explained. The government is introducing Perlinsos digital as Indonesia’s first integrated social protection system, built on an updated Digital Public Infrastructure foundation. The digitalisation of the social protection system is expected to improve the targeting accuracy of aid distribution to the public and reduce difficulties in accessing social assistance caused by administrative and population data issues. Data integration through digitalisation is expected to help minimise these obstacles because identity documents such as ID cards and family cards will be connected within a single platform.
