Luhut: President to Launch National GovTech in October 2026

The Chairman of the Government Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, stated that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to launch the national government digital transformation (GovTech) in October 2026.

“The President will launch it nationally in October,” said Luhut after attending the Social Assistance Digitalisation Acceleration Meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Luhut noted that the GovTech pilot project is currently underway in 43 regencies and cities. The government aims to receive the implementation reports for these projects by the end of July 2026.

According to him, the President has directed that digital transformation become one of the government’s priority programmes. The system will not only rely on the digitalisation of government services but will also be supported by artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

“The President has provided direction that this is one of the most important programmes. A digital-based government, but even more advanced, supported by AI,” he said.

He added that several regions, such as Surabaya, have shown good progress in GovTech implementation. Consequently, the government is opening opportunities to expand the pilot project to more regencies and cities before the national launch.

Luhut stated that all software used in GovTech is developed by Indonesian talent. The government is also integrating approximately 27,000 applications, which are currently scattered across various ministries and agencies, into a single digital service ecosystem.

“We are not buying or importing software, which would incur high costs. We are simply unifying around 27,000 existing applications across all ministries and agencies,” he said.

According to Tito, the expansion of the pilot project follows successful trials in Banyuwangi, which demonstrated tangible benefits, particularly in improving the accuracy of social assistance distribution.
