Luhut introduces 'GovTech' during visit to China

Beijing (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has introduced government technology, or ‘GovTech’, to Chinese officials and Indonesian citizens in China.

‘We are currently preparing GovTech. Furthermore, we have AI (Artificial Intelligence) Research in Bali, involving several dozen people, so we can also join forces with Chinese researchers regarding AI,’ Luhut told ANTATION in Beijing on Friday (18/9).

Luhut is in China from 15-18 September to attend several meetings, including the China Economic and Social Forum 2026 in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province; meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Secretary-General of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Dongfeng, and NDRC Chairman Zheng Shanjie; as well as delivering a public lecture at Tsinghua University.

Luhut introduced GovTech while speaking with Chinese government officials and students from Tsinghua University.

Regarding GovTech, Luhut mentioned that everything will operate within a single ecosystem, which he believes will automatically lead to deregulation, as the system will dismantle existing bureaucratic hurdles. He expressed hope that a national roll-out will occur this October.

Luhting stated that preparations for GovTech have reached 80 per cent, by unifying almost 27,000 applications scattered across various ministries and local governments.

‘This is not a new application, as it will simply integrate with Dukcapil (Civil Registry) data, performing special recognition so that it can become a national movement for social protection,’ Luhut added.
