Luhut Emphasises That AI Utilisation Must Not Erase Ethical Values and Character

The Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has emphasised that the leap in digital transformation and the mastery of Artificial Intelligence (AI) must always be based on character, wisdom, and conscience.

This was stated by Luhut, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Del Foundation, before thousands of alumni during the IT Del Grand Reunion titled “IADEL Connect 2026” at Balai Kartini, Jakarta.

“No matter how high our scientific knowledge or how sophisticated our technology, Del must not lose the values that serve as its foundation: MarTuhan, Marroha, Marbisuk (being God-fearing, having heart, and being wise),” Luhut said in a statement on Saturday, 5 September 2026.

He emphasised that these values become increasingly important as the world enters the era of artificial intelligence. While AI can gather knowledge extremely quickly, technology, to this day, does not possess a heart.
