Luhut: Chaotic Decile Data to Be Fixed Using AI

Decile data in the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) is in disarray. Many members of the public feel that their decile data does not match their actual economic conditions.

Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has spoken out on the matter. Luhut said the data will continue to be improved with the help of artificial intelligence (AI).

“We will continue to fix it later with this AI. Because the exchange of data between ministries and agencies is running, it should be improved later,” Luhut said when met at the Jakarta Investment Festival 2026 event in Central Jakarta on Friday (28/8/2026).

According to Luhut, digitalisation and AI assistance can connect data held by all ministries, agencies and regional governments. In this way, the process of dividing the public into decile categories or groups can be more accurate.

“For the first time, all data from ministries and agencies is already talking to one another through digital means and is supported by AI. So you can test it yourself later — if anyone wants to register for social assistance, go ahead. It will be possible to be rejected or accepted,” Luhut said.

According to Luhut, with the use of AI, the decile grouping that will be widely used for the distribution of social assistance will be fairer. This is because, with the help of artificial intelligence, people can no longer hide their data or economic conditions.

“It is currently being worked on, we are looking at it, and again with this AI I think there will be more justice. Because people can no longer hide their data,” explained the former Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment.
