Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC), delivered a public lecture at the Auditorium of Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani (Unjani) in Cimahi, West Java on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

Addressing 25,637 students and 1,090 educators at the public lecture themed “Optimising the Role and Character of Students in Leveraging the Demographic Dividend to Realise Indonesia Emas 2045,” Luhut discussed the escalating conflicts between the United States and its allies, and Israel’s confrontation with Iran.

Luhut stated that current conditions are impacting the global economy, which faces the highest level of uncertainty in history. This is due to a series of conflicts beginning with the Russia-Ukraine war, followed by tensions between the United States and Venezuela over the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by Delta Force, and now an outbreak of war between the United States-Israel alliance and Iran.

“My point is that this uncertainty remains high. Therefore, we domestically must also unite in facing this because the entire world is facing these problems,” said Luhut at Unjani Cimahi on Wednesday (11 March 2026).

Luhut touched upon the fact that many current conflicts involve advanced nations. He forthrightly exemplified how the United States and Britain have triggered conflicts in various countries through their arbitrary actions.

“But honestly, when you study history, the truth is that the architects of all these catastrophes—these wars—are the advanced nations. Look at how Britain, the colonial power, then divided Palestine and Israel. Look at America and the Western countries: after the Second World War, Saudi Arabia was divided into Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and all the rest,” Luhut explained.
