Lufthansa posts Q2 operating profit
JAKARTA: German airline Lufthansa posted an operating profit of 65 million euros in the second quarter of the year, after suffering an operating loss of 415 million in the previous quarter, the firm said in a press release.
The announcement negated an earlier report by The Jakarta Post that said the airline booked losses in the second quarter.
Lufthansa said it managed to turn red to black, thanks to its "cost management strategy and professional capacity".
"Despite a weak macroeconomic momentum, the Iraq war and SARS, we achieved a fine result and thereby strengthened our competitiveness in the international market," Lufthansa chairman and CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber said. -- JP
