FRANKFURT (AFP): The German airline Lufthansa said on Monday
that it had signed a code-sharing agreement with Air China which
would come into effect at the end of October.
Lufthansa chairman Juergen Weber and his counterpart at Air
China Wang Li'An had signed a corresponding agreement in Peking
on Monday, the German airline said in a statement here.
The two carriers would offer flights between Frankfurt and
Peking and Frankfurt and Shanghai under a joint code with effect
from October 29.
Lufthansa chief Weber said: "In Air China, we're happy to have
found a strong partner in one of the big growth markets in our
sector. We value the code-sharing agreement very highly. As the
next step, we and our cooperation partner want to offer flights
within China from Shanghai and Peking to Lufthansa customers."
Under the new code-sharing agreement, the number of flights
available to customers of both airlines will be increased
significantly.
