Lucky draw ups Nokia sales

JAKARTA (JP): Finland-based cellular phone producer Nokia said yesterday its lucky draw program had significantly boosted its phone sales in Indonesia.

The manager of marketing and sales for Nokia Mobile Phones Indonesia, Hasan Aula, said that Nokia's collaboration with distributor Bimasakti Usindo Persada and cellular phone operator PT Satelindo in conducting the "super surprise lucky draw program" had successfully increased its market share.

The program, which began in early December and ended on Feb. 19, provided incentives in the form of lucky draw coupons for every original Nokia product purchased. Incentives were also given for the purchase of Satelindo's Subscribers Identity Module (SIM) cards and prepaid cards.

The winner of the lucky draw will receive new Nokia products and cash, with a total value of around Rp 200 million.

Hasan said that Nokia was bullish about the prospects for Indonesia's cellular market this year, and would continue to launch new products and open more service centers in the country.

"We plan to launch our new product, the Nokia 9110, early next month," he said. (gis)
