LSI Survey: 90.1 Percent of Respondents Concerned About Potential Attacks from Other Countries
JAKARTA - A survey by the Lembaga Survei Indonesia (LSI) indicates that the majority of the public feels concerned about potential threats or attacks from other countries against the Unitary Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). The survey component on concerns regarding potential threats from other countries is included in the LSI survey titled “Public Evaluation and Commitment to Pancasila”, as explained by LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan in Cikini, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (12/4/2026). In the national survey conducted from 4 to 12 March 2026, 90.1 percent of respondents admitted to feeling worried. The breakdown shows 46.9 percent stating they are very worried, while 43.2 percent feel moderately worried. Recorded are 7.6 percent who state they are not worried, 1 percent not worried at all, and 1.2 percent do not know or did not answer. Meanwhile, 90.3 percent admit to being worried about national division. The breakdown is 46.9 percent very worried about division, while 43.4 percent are moderately worried about division. On the other hand, 77.9 percent of respondents do not support if there is a region in Indonesia that wants to become its own country. The survey respondents cover all Indonesian citizens who have voting rights in general elections, namely those who are at least 17 years old or already married at the time of the survey. From that population, researchers selected 2,020 respondents randomly using the multistage random sampling method. With that sample size, the survey’s margin of error is ±2.2 percent at a 95 percent confidence level, assuming simple random sampling. The respondents were interviewed face-to-face by trained interviewers. To maintain data quality, the team conducted random supervision of 20 percent of the sample through follow-up visits to respondents (spot checks). The results found no significant errors in the interview process. This survey took place from 4 March 2026 to 12 March 2026.
