LRT Velodrome-Manggarai Fare Set at Rp8 During Socialisation Period

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has ensured that the trial fare for the Jakarta LRT on the Velodrome-Manggarai route is set at Rp8 until the official inauguration day. This policy has been adopted as a socialisation step and technical preparation before the transport mode operates at full capacity.

Pramono explained that this symbolic fare aims to attract public interest while providing time for the government to complete several supporting facilities. The current focus of completion is on the areas beneath the LRT tracks, rather than the main line itself.

“I have decided that until the day of the inauguration, we will implement a fare of 8 rupiah,” Pramlar said at Balairung, Jakarta, on Thursday (3/9).

Following the inauguration period, the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to implement a flat fare of Rp5,000. This fare scheme will be in effect for the first one to two months as the initial stage of commercial operations.

Pramono added that after this flat-fare period, the authorities will conduct a thorough evaluation. The evaluation is intended to determine an ideal fare for the public while ensuring that the subsidy burden from the Jakarta Provincial Government does not become excessive.

The Governor is optimistic that the presence of the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT line will be well-received by residents. With the Rp8 fare during the socialisation period, he projects that the number of new users could reach over 40,000 passengers per day.

“I am confident that every day we could potentially see over 40,000 new passengers, those who have previously never used the LRT route from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai,” he concluded.
