LRT Sumsel adds 98 trips to support 'Car Free Night' in Palembang
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divisi Regional III Palembang, together with the South Sumatra Light Rail Management Agency, has added trips on the Lintas Raya Terpadu (LRT) Sumsel on Saturday night to support public mobility to the Car Free Night (CFN) Atmo event in Palembang city. The Public Relations Manager of KAI Divisi Regional III Palembang, Aida Suryanti, in a written press statement received by ANTARA in Palembang on Saturday, said that the operational adjustments are in line with the implementation of CFN along Jalan Kolonel Atmo from 17:30 WIB to 22:30 WIB. “LRT Sumsel operations have been extended until 00:16 WIB and the number of trips, originally 94, has been increased to 98,” she said. She explained that the additional trips operated include the DJKA-Airport, Airport-DJKA, Asrama Haji-DJKA, and DJKA-Asrama Haji routes. This step is taken to accommodate the high interest of the public who want to attend the Car Free Night and to ensure that customers can travel safely, comfortably, and on time. The public who wish to enjoy the event can use LRT Sumsel and alight at Cinde Station or Ampera Station, as both are close to the event centre. In addition, access from these two stations also makes it easy for residents to reach the Fountain Roundabout area, which is one of the favourite spots for the public to relax at night. The addition of trips is expected to make LRT Sumsel an effective and environmentally friendly transportation solution. “This service is also expected to be able to reduce the potential for congestion due to the use of private vehicles and provide a more practical travel alternative for the public,” she explained. KAI Divre III Palembang, together with BPKARSS, is committed to continuously improving services and supporting local government programmes in promoting tourism and MSME actors through the provision of reliable and sustainable public transportation.
