LRT Speaks Out on Blackout Followed by Loud Noise at Cawang Station
Greater Jakarta LRT (LRT Jabodebek) experienced an incident involving a power outage and a loud noise on a train travelling the Dukuh Atas-Harjamukti route as it entered Cawang Station. LRT Jabodebek management has issued a statement.
The situation was widely discussed on the social media platform Threads. One user, with the account @by.khsnl, reported that the lights inside the LRT carriage they were travelling in suddenly dimmed.
“The condition (of the train) was still moving entering Cawang Station, the lights started to dim. When it stopped at Cawang Station, there was an explosion sound,” said the owner of the @by.khsnl account, who declined to be named.
The user added that the loud bang was heard once and came from the front of the train. “The source (of the explosion) was from the front (the direction the train came from), whether it was the front carriage or how, I don’t really know,” they said.
After the loud bang was heard, passengers scrambled out of the carriage. The account owner then decided to use an alternative transport option.
