LRT Jakarta Velodrome–Manggarai Route to Begin Trials After Eid al-Fitr
Jakarta — PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) is continuing to push to complete Jakarta LRT Phase 1B (Velodrome–Manggarai). The new line, which has five stations, is targeted to commence operations in August 2026. Jakpro’s Chief Executive, Iwan Takwin, said, based on the timeline, Phase 1B is slated to operate officially in the coming months. The state-owned company, which focuses on infrastructure development, is busy finalising the mass transit project. “Yes, indeed for LRT 1B we are targeting in line with the timeline; in August, God willing, it will operate officially,” Iwan told media in Jakarta on Friday (6 March 2026). He explained that preparations are underway to conduct commissioning tests on the new line, with the tests planned after Eid al-Fitr. In addition, the company will complete the process of obtaining the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B operating permit. “We are just starting now; after Eid al-Fitr we will begin the commissioning test, and then in parallel complete our obligations for the operating permit which we will submit to the Ministry of Transport,” Iwan said. Earlier, the LRT Jakarta Project Director, Ramdani Akbar, stated that the progress of Jakarta LRT Phase 1B is targeted to be finished in Q4 2026. The new route, which will have a track length of 6.4 kilometres, is expected to increase the number of passengers using the transport mode. He said that LRT Jakarta Phase 1B will have five stations: Pemuda Rawamangun, Pramuka BPKP, Pasar Pramuka, Matraman, and Manggarai. Each station built is projected to be integrated with other public transport services, such as Transjakarta, KRL, and the Airport Rail Link. “Indeed, the aim of the Jakarta LRT Project 1B is to connect to Manggarai Station as the central station in the future,” Ramdani said a while ago.
