LRT Jakarta Velodrome-Manggarai Route Set for 26 August 2026 Operational Launch
PT Jakarta Propertindo, or Jakpro, has reported that construction progress on the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B has reached 97.99 percent as of the fourth week of July 2026. The route connecting Velodrome with Manggarai is targeted to begin operations this month.
Director of Engineering and Development at Jakpro, Robert Sarjaka, said the company continues to strengthen coordination with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) at the Ministry of Transportation to ensure service readiness. This coordination covers a series of tests on infrastructure and rolling stock, signalling systems, telecommunications, electrical systems, and overall system integration.
“Safety is the top priority in every construction and operation of transport infrastructure. Together with DJKA, we are carrying out each testing phase gradually and comprehensively to ensure all systems are ready for operation,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Jakpro stated that the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B is planned to be inaugurated on 26 August 2026. The presence of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line will not only expand the reach of Jakarta LRT services but also strengthen inter-area connectivity and intermodal integration in Jakarta.
With the operation of Phase 1B, the Jakarta LRT will serve a 12.2-kilometre route connecting 11 stations, from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai. The eleven stations that will operate include Kelapa Gading, Boulevard Utara, Boulevard Selatan, Pulomas, Equestrian, Velodrome, Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, Proklamasi, and Manggarai stations.
In terms of integration, Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, and Proklamasi stations will be integrated with Transjakarta services. Meanwhile, Manggarai Station will become one of the main integration hubs with the KRL Commuter Line, Airport Rail Link, and Transjakarta, thereby strengthening the Jakarta LRT’s connectivity with other public transport networks.
With the operation of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line, the journey from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai is targeted to take around 28 minutes. The line is expected to provide a faster and more efficient mobility alternative.
The expansion of the Jakarta LRT network is also projected to gradually increase user numbers to between 60,000 and 80,000 passengers per day. This increase in users is expected to contribute to reducing private vehicle use, congestion, and emissions from the transport sector.
Meanwhile, Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, Allan Tandiono, said all testing stages are being carried out gradually, systematically, and comprehensively to ensure every component functions in an integrated manner. The testing is also conducted to meet safety, reliability, and service quality aspects before being used by the public.
“The system testing process is carried out thoroughly and in detail to ensure all technical and safety functions operate optimally before being opened to the general public,” he said.
