LRT Jakarta to Extend to Dukuh Atas, Completion Targeted for August 2028

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the LRT Jakarta line will be extended to Dukuh Atas, with construction scheduled to commence next year and a target completion date of August 2028. The announcement was made as the existing Velodrome-Manggarai segment nears operational readiness.

Currently, the LRT Jakarta route only reaches Manggarai. The Velodrome-Manggarai segment is in its final stages, with progress reported at 97.9 percent. Governor Pramono stated that this section is expected to begin operations by the end of August. This 6.4-kilometre stretch forms part of the broader Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line, which spans 12.2 kilometres and is supported by an investment of Rp12.1 trillion.

Once the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai line is fully operational, daily ridership is projected to reach approximately 60,000 passengers initially, rising to around 80,000 under normal conditions. The service is planned to run from 05:00 to midnight Western Indonesia Time, with each train set having a capacity of 275 passengers.

Governor Pramono also outlined further expansion plans to improve connectivity, including extending the LRT network from Kelapa Gading to the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) and from the Velodrome to the Whoosh high-speed rail station in Halim. He expressed confidence that once these connections are established, along with the completion of the MRT’s east-west corridor, public transport usage in Jakarta will increase significantly.
