The Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route in Jakarta is confirmed to commence full operations immediately after its inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto on 26 August 2026. The mass transport service will follow the standard operating pattern in Jakarta, running from 05.00 to 24.00 WIB.

Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung stated that all technical and operational preparations have been completed. As such, the public will be able to utilise the service to its full extent immediately after the inauguration ceremony concludes.

“Once it is inaugurated by the President, it will operate fully. The schedule is the same as the KRL schedule, from 05.00 in the morning until 24.00,” said Pramono on Tuesday (25/8).

The presence of the Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route is expected to provide an additional solution for the mobility of Jakarta residents, particularly those who frequently travel in the Kelapa Gading, Rawamangun, Cikini, and Manggarai transit hub areas.

Pramono expressed confidence that the line will effectively encourage the public to shift from private vehicles to public transport. This is because the route cuts through strategic areas with high activity intensity, ranging from office centres and commercial areas to educational zones.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting a relatively high occupancy rate for this route. Based on study results and comparisons with the performance of the LRT Jabodebek, the number of users is projected to reach 60,000 to 80,000 passengers per day.

Furthermore, Pramono explained that improved public transport connectivity in Jakarta has had a tangible impact on changing public behaviour. He noted a positive trend in modal shift.

Data shows that since intermodal connectivity was improved and the policy requiring civil servants (ASN) to use public transport every Wednesday was implemented, there has been an increase of more than 15 per cent in private vehicle users switching to public transport.

“With increasingly better connectivity, people who previously used private vehicles are willing to use public transport because of that convenience,” he concluded.
