LRT Jakarta Phase 1B Trial: Pramono Says President to Inaugurate Next Month

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B project, linking Velodrome to Manggarai, has reached 95 per cent completion and is on track to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto in August 2026. Speaking during an inspection at Rawamangun Station, Pramono expressed confidence that the 6.4-kilometre rail-based public transport route would be completed on schedule. He emphasised that the President’s presence at the inauguration would be significant, marking a new legacy that transforms the face of Jakarta. The former cabinet secretary explained that the public’s journey from North Jakarta to Central Jakarta is frequently hampered by traffic congestion, and the LRT’s presence is expected to help reduce gridlock on the roads. With the addition of Phase 1B, the total track length from Pegangsaan Dua to Manggarai will reach 12.2 kilometres, serving 11 stations. These include the existing Pegangsaan Dua, Boulevard Utara Summarecon Mall, Boulevard Selatan, Pulomas, Equestrian, and Velodrome, plus the new Rawamangun, Pramuka, Kayu Manis, Matraman, and Manggarai stations. Pramono added that he has already decided to proceed with construction directly to Dukuh Atas, covering approximately two more kilometres.
