Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has urged LRT Jabodebek users to immediately report to officers if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable while at stations or during their journey. Passengers are also encouraged to report if they observe other users in need of assistance.

In the event of unsafe or uncomfortable conditions, the following steps can be taken to obtain assistance:

  1. Immediately convey the situation to security personnel or the nearest officer;

  2. Provide the location of the incident so that officers can respond accurately;

  3. If possible, remain in crowded areas near officers until assistance is provided; and

  4. If you see another passenger in need of help, contact an officer immediately while ensuring your own safety.

“Please report immediately to security or the nearest station staff if you feel uncomfortable or require assistance. Information regarding the location and the situation occurring will help officers provide a faster and more precise response,” said the Manager of Public Relations for LRT Jabodebek, Radhitya Mardika.

As a preventive measure to support passenger safety and comfort, LRT Jabodebek is strengthening supervision through:

  • Surveillance patrols by security and service personnel;

  • CCTV systems located in station areas and within train sets;

  • Dedicated women-only carriages at the rear of the train as an additional protection option on weekdays;

  • Direct reports to officers, the KAI 121 Contact Centre, and official social media channels;

  • Every incoming report will be followed up by officers, including providing assistance to victims if necessary to proceed with reports to the authorities;

  • KAI may implement service access restrictions for perpetrators proven to have committed violations following an inspection mechanism in accordance with applicable regulations.

Security officers conduct surveillance on a rotating basis 24 hours a day, particularly in the Ground, Concourse, and Platform areas of the stations. Meanwhile, CCTV is used as a monitoring tool and can serve as supporting evidence in handling reports if required, in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.

“LRT Jabode and wants to ensure users know that when facing situations that make them feel unsafe or uncomfortable, they can seek help immediately. Users do not need to wait for the situation to worsen before reporting,” he said.

LRT Jabodebek also implements strict action against users proven to have committed violations that disturb safety and comfort, including theft as well as verbal and non-verbal sexual harassment. Perpetrators proven to have committed violations may be subject to restrictions on accessing LRT Jabodebek services.

These measures are part of LRT Jabodebek’s efforts to create a safe and comfortable public transport environment for all users. Passenger participation by promptly reporting situations requiring assistance is also a vital part of supporting these efforts.

“KAI does not tolerate actions that disturb the safety and comfort of users. Strengthening supervision, responding to reports, and the active participation of users in immediately reporting situations that require assistance are essential parts of creating a safe and comfortable public transport service for everyone,” Radhitya concluded.
