LRT Jabodebek Transforms Stations into Public Spaces with 'Music on Track'

LRT Jabodebek is continuing to develop its services by transforming stations into comfortable, lively public spaces that provide added value for the community, moving beyond their traditional role as mere boarding and alighting points. This effort is part of enhancing the customer experience to make journeys using public transport more enjoyable without compromising the primary focus on safety, security, and operational reliability. The transformation is increasingly relevant as public interest in using LRT Jabodebek grows. In the first half of 2026, Cawang Station served 1,470,895 users, an increase of 248,943 users, or approximately 21 per cent, compared to the same period the previous year. This demonstrates that stations are becoming spaces increasingly utilised by the public every day. As one implementation of this transformation, LRT Jabodebek presented the ‘Vok Pop: Music on Track’ activity at Cawang LRT Station on Saturday (26/7). Through this activity, users can enjoy live music performances at no additional cost, whether waiting for the train or after completing their journey. The event, which took place from 15.30 to 17.30 WIB, featured performances by Alvin Lapian, Grace Kaitlin, Martin Wiguna, Canti, Calvin Jeremy, and William Sihimbing. In addition to enjoying the music, users could participate in various interactive activities and receive exclusive souvenirs and free drinks during the event. LRT Jabodebek Manager of Public Relations, Radhitya Mardika, stated that the development of public transport is no longer measured solely by punctuality and operational reliability, but also by the quality of experience users feel while in the station area. ‘We want to change the perception that a station is just a place to arrive, wait, and then depart. In the future, we want stations to become part of the urban public space that is comfortable for interacting and enjoying various positive activities, while still supporting public mobility. Music on Track is one of the steps to realise that experience,’ he said. According to him, developing public spaces in station areas is part of LRT Jabodebek’s effort to provide services that are increasingly aligned with the needs of urban communities. As the culture of using public transport grows, users not only need safe and punctual journeys but also a comfortable environment and a positive experience. ‘Public transport is no longer just about moving from one point to another. The experience while at the station is also an important part of service quality. When people feel comfortable using public transport, we hope more will make it their daily mobility choice,’ he added. Going forward, LRT Jabodebek will continue to present various service innovations that provide added value for users. By developing stations into more lively, inclusive, and friendly public spaces for all groups, LRT Jabodebek hopes that public transport will increasingly become part of a modern lifestyle while encouraging more people to switch to using mass transit.
