PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has officially announced a trial of additional LRT Jabodebek frequencies during the morning peak hour. This strategic move is designed to improve comfort and ease passenger crowding that frequently occurs on weekdays. The trial operation of the supplementary special train (KLB) is scheduled to run for five days, from Monday, 8 June 2026 to Friday, 12 June 2026. To accommodate high user mobility towards the city centre, the additional schedules are being introduced on two main routes. LRT Jabodebek Manager of Public Relations Radhitya Mardika explained that the policy is a response to analysis of passenger movement patterns, which show a significant surge every morning, particularly between 6 am and 8 am Western Indonesia Time. “This trial is a form of our adaptation in responding to the community’s mobility needs. We have observed increasing density, especially at the initial stations heading towards activity centres in Jakarta,” Radhitya said. According to operational data, stations with the highest passenger volumes on weekdays include Cikoko Station, which is of particular concern because of its role as a strategic integration point with the KRL Commuter Line and Transjakarta, triggering consistently large passenger flows. During the KLB trial period, regular LRT Jabodebek operations are guaranteed to continue as normal. The additional time slots are expected to create a more even distribution of passenger loads, thereby reducing long queues on platforms and overcrowding inside carriages. KAI management stressed that it will conduct a thorough evaluation of the trial results. If proven effective, this travel pattern could be made permanent in order to deliver safer, more comfortable, and more responsive public transport services adapted to the dynamics of urban society in the Greater Jakarta area.
