LRT Jabodebek Stations Transformed into Public Spaces, Free Music Concert Held at Cawang
LRT Jabodebek continues to develop its services by transforming stations from mere boarding and alighting points into comfortable, lively public spaces that provide added value to the community. The effort forms part of the development of customer experience, so that travelling on public transport becomes increasingly enjoyable without compromising the primary focus on safety, security and operational reliability.
This transformation has become increasingly relevant as public interest in using LRT Jabodebek grows. By the first half of 2026, Cawang Station had served 1,470,895 users, an increase of 248,995 passengers, or around 21 per cent compared with the same period the previous year. This shows that stations are now spaces increasingly used by the community every day.
As part of implementing this transformation, LRT Jabodebek held the “Vok Pop: Music on Track” event at Cawang LRT Station on Saturday (26 July). Through the event, users could enjoy live music performances at no extra charge, whether while waiting for the train or after completing their journey.
The event, which ran from 3.30pm to 5.30pm local time, featured performances by Alvin Lapian, Grace Kaitlin, Martin Wiguna, Canti, Calvin Jeremy and William Sihimbing. Beyond enjoying the music, users could also take part in various interactive activities and receive exclusive souvenirs and complimentary drinks provided throughout the event.
Radhitya Mardika, Manager of Public Relations at LRT Jabodebek, said that public transport development is now measured not only by punctuality and operational reliability, but also by the quality of the experience users have while in the station area.
“We want to change the perception that a station is merely a place to arrive, wait and then depart. Going forward, we want stations to become part of a comfortable urban public space for interaction and enjoying positive activities, while still supporting people’s mobility. Music on Track is one step towards realising that experience,” he said.
According to him, developing public space around stations is part of LRT Jabodebek’s effort to deliver services that increasingly meet the needs of urban communities. As the culture of using public transport develops, users need not only safe and punctual journeys, but also a comfortable environment that offers a positive experience.
“Public transport is no longer just about moving from one point to another. The experience while at the station is also an important part of service quality. When people feel comfortable using public transport, we hope more and more of them will make it their everyday mobility choice,” he said.
Going forward, LRT Jabodebek will continue to introduce service innovations that provide added value for users. Through developing stations as more lively, inclusive and welcoming public spaces for all, LRT Jabodebek hopes public transport will increasingly become part of a modern lifestyle and encourage more people to switch to mass transit.
