LRT Fare Slashed to Rp8 for Independence Day

There is interesting news for people planning to travel using the LRT Jabodebek during the celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI has prepared a special LRT Jabodebek fare of only Rp8 for travel on 17 August 2026. This promotion applies specifically on the day commemorating Indonesia’s independence. Executive Vice President of LRT Jabodebek Suryawan Putra Hia said the special fare is part of the 81st Independence Day celebrations as well as an effort to encourage the public to use public transport. ‘Through the Rp8 fare on 17 August 2026, we want to invite the public to utilise public transport while making the LRT Jabodebek journey part of the momentum of celebrating the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day,’ Suryawan said in an official statement on Wednesday (12/8/2026). With this fare, the public can make the LRT one of their transport options for travelling during the 17 August holiday. KAI hopes this programme will also make public transport more accessible to the community. Not only special fares, the independence atmosphere will also be felt in LRT Jabodebek services. A number of stations and train sets will be decorated with red and white nuances throughout the celebration period. Suryawan said the decorations are intended to bring the independence celebration atmosphere to passengers while using the LRT Jabodebek service. ‘The independence momentum is an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of togetherness. Through public transport services, we want to help deliver a travel experience that is not only safe and comfortable, but can also be part of the celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia,’ Suryawan said.
