LRT Extension to Dukuh Atas to Transform Transport Integration
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo believes the LRT route from Pegangsaan 2 to Dukuh Atas will bring about a change in transport integration in the capital city. “If that happens (Pegangsaan 2-Dukuh Atas), we can imagine friends from Pondok Labu wanting to eat in Kelapa Gading, the time would be under one hour. Because from Pondok Labu taking the MRT then switching to the LRT, it would take less than an hour,” explained Pramono when met at Rawamangun LRT Station on Tuesday. He is targeting the route to be completed by 2028 with a budget of Rp2.7 trillion. Once the route is finished, Pramono even estimates the LRT from Pegangsaan 2 to Manggarai could carry 80,000 passengers. He therefore hopes the route can eventually be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto. “Why we propose it to be inaugurated by the President? Because this will be a milestone or legacy that changes the face of Jakarta. Because all this time, from the north to the centre has often faced a handicap, extraordinary traffic jams,” said Pramono. Moreover, transport integration will be even more complete if the north-south MRT from Lebak Bulus to Kota Tua is finished. That route is known to have a length of approximately 22 kilometres. Pramono believes these transport routes can make Jakarta have more comfortable transportation.
